This week, the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for the Visual Arts & Artists convened for its Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Westminster. The meeting marked an important moment of celebrating the work and activity of the group over the past year and announced Lord Bassam joining as an Officer of the group.

The APPG for Visual Arts and Artists is now composed of the following parliamentarians:

• Manuela Perteghalla MP (Liberal Democrat, Stratford-upon-Avon)
• Lord Bassam (Labour)
• Lord Vaizey of Didcot (Conservative)
The Secretariat which includes DACS, CVAN and a-n, looks forward to continuing to support the APPG as it advocates for visual arts and artists in the UK.
About the APPG for the Visual Arts
The All-Party Parliamentary Group for the Visual Arts was established to provide a dedicated forum for parliamentarians to explore, understand, and respond to the key issues facing visual artists across the UK. Through evidence sessions, briefings, and ongoing dialogue, the group aims to:
- Deepen parliamentary understanding of artists’ working lives and economic challenges.
- Champion policies that support fair pay, sustainable careers, and equitable access to creative opportunities.
- Encourage cross-party collaboration on matters affecting the visual arts ecosystem.
